Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Emerald City Pet Rescue! Volunteers are the backbone of our organization and play a critical role in helping us fulfill our mission of "Love Can Save Lives" Without the hard work, dedication, and passion of our volunteers, we would not be able to save the hundreds of lives we do every year.

At Emerald City Pet Rescue, we have high standards for our staff and volunteers alike. We are looking for volunteers who are willing to make a three-month commitment of at least two one-hour shifts per month, as this helps us maintain a consistent environment for our staff and animals. Additionally, we are looking for versatile volunteers who are willing to work with all animals and perform all necessary cleaning tasks at our rescue. While we will do our best to match you with animals and tasks you prefer, we may have greater need elsewhere.

We expect our volunteers to work autonomously following appropriate training. Please understand that our staff is at work and may not be able to provide constant supervision. Rest assured that we will never ask you to perform tasks that put you at unnecessary risk.

VOLUNTEER in WEST seattle WITH DOGS AND CATS

Our volunteers support us in a variety of ways, including cat care, cleaning, dog socialization and training, outreach, maintenance, and walks.  Our "Idaho" location in South Seattle houses new arrivals, small dogs, big dogs, cats, small animals, adoptable animals, and animals not quite ready for adoption.

For the safety of the animals, staff, and volunteers, all volunteers must attend an orientation, which provides a basic understanding of animal behavior and a tour of our facility, as well as an opportunity to learn about our mission, policies, procedures, and programs. We always encourage and offer opportunities for dialogue with kennel staff to better understand rescue operations and animal care. Upon completion of your volunteer application, you will receive a confirmation e-mail.

Volunteer applications are accepted on a continuous basis.

More details about the program:
